Wansbeck 100

The Wansbeck 100 We recently received funding over 3 years from the Catchment Restoration Fund to improve 100km of the upper Wansbeck and its tributaries.  A key focus will be reducing the amount of sediment getting into the rivers and streams, although we will also be improving fish passes and fords, planting large areas of trees and creating many new wetlands.alt

Key partners include the National Trust and the Middleton Estate.

The project will be very much community focused.

Please get in touch if you would like to be involved!

The project has recently delivered pilot works at Middleton.  Roughly 1000m of riverbank has been fenced off, including two large meanders.  It is planned to create wetlands and plant trees in these areas over the winter.

Works are also planned at Wallington this spring.  These will focus on the area to the west of the estate, and will include works to desilt ponds and lakes, measures to trap sediment, tree planting and the creation of wetlands.  Details to follow.

We very much want this project to be people focused.  If you would like to be involved, please contact Pete Kerr at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
