altThe Wansbeck 100 project started in November 2012 to improve 100km of the river and its tributaries.  The 3 year project is funded by the Catchment Restoration Fund.

Much of the work will focus on reducing farm runoff and improving bank side habitat, although we also intend to improve three fish passes in 2013 and install many new wetlands.

This is very much a community project - please get in touch if you would like to be involved!

The Wansbeck is home to perhaps the best community of native white clawed crayfish in western Europe!  If you fish on the Wansbeck, please protect them by making sure that you Check, Clean and Dry your fishing kit and wellies.  This will help keep the signal crayfish out.
