We are currently delivering works to reduce diffuse pollution on the Belford Burn and the Waren Burn as part of the Northumberland Rural Diffuse Pollution Project.

Part of this work is being delivered as part of the Environment Agency's Belford Flood Alleviation Scheme as this saves with the costs to mobilise contractors.  We are keen to explore other opportunities to improve water quality alongside other works.

Fish pass options have been assessed for three obstructions on the Waren Burn.  We hope to deliver these works this coming summer (2013), although funding is still to be confirmed.

The NRT recently met with Environment Agency fisheries officers and local residents to look into fish pass problems at a site on the Long Nanny.  A simple solution has been discussed, and we hope to be able to deliver the works in 2013.

We are keen to explore works on the North and South Lows.  These would look at diffuse pollution, habitat and fish passage issues.
